Mega Man 3

Mega Man 3 is the 1990 Capcom sequel that expanded the Blue Bomber's world in every direction — more Robot Masters, a new companion, and the debut of one of gaming's most beloved rival characters. Eight new Robot Masters await, including Magnet Man, Hard Man, Top Man, Snake Man, Spark Man, Shadow Man, Gemini Man, and Needle Man, each with a stage that introduces unique gimmicks and hazards. Defeating all eight opens a second act that revisits the bosses from Mega Man 2 before the confrontation with the series antagonist, Dr. Wily.

About this game

Wily.

Mega Man 3 introduced Rush, Mega Man's robotic dog companion, who transforms into a coil for extra jump height, a jet for horizontal flight, and a submarine for underwater navigation. Rush expanded the movement toolkit beyond anything the previous games offered and became a permanent fixture of the franchise. The game also introduces Proto Man — a mysterious rival who appears between stages and hints at a deeper story connecting the two characters.

Mega Man 3 is often cited in debates over the finest entry in the classic series. Its stages are lengthy and varied, its weapons include several that remain fan favorites (the Shadow Blade is devastating in the right hands), and its music is consistently regarded as the series high point for chiptune composition. The sheer volume of content — 16 Robot Master stages, plus Dr. Wily's fortress — makes it one of the most substantial NES games ever released.
